The seven characteristics of a Shahnazi violin
These seven characteristics are our shared language for describing an instrument — in building it, in setting it up, and in finding the model that fits you.
Each characteristic has its own write-up. Click a characteristic name to read it.
The higher the model, the less string tension the instrument needs to reach the intended pitch. The result is a softer, finer response, better control in higher positions and easier work at higher tunings.
Choosing a higher model does not automatically mean a “better sound” for every player. As the model rises, the instrument’s capacity and control in the core characteristics grow; but softness, register and the sense of spaciousness between notes must be matched to the music and to the player’s needs. A higher model means more capacity and control — not one same sound for everyone.
Sound characteristics radar
Values run from 0 to 100; each axis is one of the seven characteristics, and the filled shape shows how this instrument scores for that style. Every instrument has two charts: one based on Western classical music and one based on Eastern music.
